Adapting One Hundred Years of Solitude to a film seems like an extremely difficult task for two reasons. First, this novel belongs to a certain pioneer of South American writers, especially Gabriel García Márquez, where the story is told by combining reality and fantasy.
Another reason is the inherent complexity of the novel
Naturally, translating such scenes into a film may seem absurd and not achieve a satisfactory cinematic form. However, after watching the first episode of the series “One Hundred Years of Solitude”, it became clear that the creators managed to convey this magical and surreal feeling to the audience, but it would not seem funny.

One Hundred Years of Solitude is difficult to read because of the constant use of identical titles for different characters, as well as non-linear narration and frequent timeline breaks. Fortunately, the series has no such problems as it has successfully turned a non-linear narrative into a linear one, allowing for a strong connection with the audience.
